The five (5) day program focuses on providing students with access to real industry professionals that can share their knowledge and help you become proficient and confident enough to apply for your High-Risk Work License that meets the standards set out by Safe Work Australia’s National Standards for Licencing Persons Conducting High-Risk Work Activities.

Prerequisites for this Program:

  1. AWCC require that evidence of a Dogging High-Risk Work Licence is provided with your enrolment into the CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging (basic level) program as a pre-requisite for this course. Alternatively, a Statement of attainment for (CPCCLDG3001 Licence to perform dogging) will be accepted by AWCC for pre-qualified applicants.
  2. Note: All persons working within the Construction Industry are required to have completed the General Construction Induction, the unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Successful Candidates and High-Risk Work Licence Application Information:

Upon the successful completion of the AWCC, CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging (basic level) program candidates will be awarded a Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment (SOA) from the RTO and an AS1 (Assessment Summary) from an approved WSQ Accredited Assessor.

These two (2) evidence of training and assessment documents can be used for students to make application for their RB Class HRWL through Workplace Health & Safety Queensland (WHSQ).

Other important HRWL application information follows:

  • Candidates will be required to provide three (3) current forms of I.D. with at least one displaying a current photo I.D. See I.D. requirements below:

  • The Licence must be applied for within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment of the basic rigging program.
  • At the time of writing the application fee was $92.50 and payable at the time of application.
  • Keep all training records, students should retain their AS1 and proof of payment as evidence during the application process and decision outcome.
  • Candidates intending to apply for a High-Risk Work Licence should be eighteen (18) years of age.

 Course Content:

The AWCC Rigging Basics Program has been designed to support student learning pathways and aims to provide students with a sound knowledge base from which they can progress into higher level skill sets. The Licence to Perform Rigging suite of training has an Intermediate and Advanced Levels for those wishing to progress and upskill beyond the basic level of competency.

The Licence to Perform Rigging (basic level) Program consists of the following topics:

  • Legislation and WH&S requirements regarding high risk rigging activities
  • Hazard Identification and how to manage associated risk
  • Understanding Load force in a number of scenarios (Dead, Static and Dynamic)
  • Exposure to basic rigging structures and the use of associated equipment
  • Understand and display the use of a variety of heights access equipment and the necessary safety PPE.
  • Communication methods available to candidates including Dogging instructions

Course Outcomes:

Persons successfully completing the CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging (basic level) Program will be assessed in both theory and practical applications and deemed proficient in the following skill sets:

  • Proficient in the understanding of there legal obligations when conducting High Risk Work Activities.
  • Understand the importance being aware of and compliant with various worksite policies and procedures.
  • Be able to perform hazard identification utilising the Hierarchy of Control and implement strategies to manage the risk associated.
  • Have the knowledge to Safely Work at Height and understand the correct application of several heights safety devices.
  • Be proficient in the use of a variety of Rigging Equipment, inspections, maintenance, and reporting faults as required.
  • Under supervision be able to inspect and assess load bearing surfaces for equipment installation at both ground level and on elevated workspaces.

Course Delivery Options:

AWCC deliver the CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging (basic level) Program over a five (5) day period in a classroom, face to face environment supported by practical training activities. The program can be facilitated at your work site if deemed suitable for training. AWCC will work with your organisation to assist and guide you through this process.

Alternatively, training can be facilitated at any one of our world class training facilities in Brisbane or Toowoomba, QLD. Minimum numbers apply.

Course Requirements:

  • A current Class DG – Dogging High-Risk Work Licence is required as a pre-requisite for this Basic Rigging Program. Alternatively, a Statement of attainment for the licence to perform dogging operations may be accepted.
  • Students must be proficient in Language, Literacy and Numeracy to successfully complete WSQ practical assessment requirements for High-Risk Work Licencing.
  • Candidates intending to apply for a High-Risk Work Licence should be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Candidates should bring copies of all previous if any, High-Risk Work Training.
  • Candidates will be required to provide three (3) current forms of I.D. with at least one displaying a current photo I.D. See I.D. requirements below:

  • Candidates should bring with them their Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number for RTO use.
  • PPE Requirements: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Long Sleeve Work Shirt and Pants, Capped Safety Boots.
  • Rigging work is a physical occupation and all Student Candidates should be in good health and not be subject to mobility restraints to successfully demonstrate and complete the practical training and assessment of the course to WSQ standards.
