Funding Limits
There are restrictions on the number of qualifications students can complete under the Career Start program, and across all other funding programs. These restrictions are set by the Department (DTET), not by the training providers, to ensure that there is equitable access for all Queenslanders to training opportunities.
Government Contributions to Training
The Queensland Government pays a subsidy for the qualification directly to the training provider. The subsidy provided will depend on the qualification’s duration, complexity and alignment with workforce skill needs. The payment is made upon completion of each unit, based on the amount payable for that qualification on the QSTL.
To help specific student groups to participate in training, the Queensland Government provides higher subsidies certain student groups. For further details please refer to our Funding Options Booklet.
Co-Contribution Fee – General Training Pathway
Under the General Training Pathway, training providers are required to charge a co-contribution fee. This fee can be paid by the student, their employer or family member, or any other person not connected with the training provider.
Under the general pathway, students will be charged an upfront deposit to secure their place in the course. The current deposit amount is detailed in our Payments & Refunds Policy or on our website.
The current Co-Contribution Fee is $ 500.00 AUD.
This fee includes all costs associated with the training. There are no additional charges for creating a Training Plan, Assessment Plan or Training Record. Any additional fees will be discussed with the student and/or their representative prior to enrolment.
