This course meets IWCF and industry guidelines with certification being awarded to successful participants on completion.
The fundamental principles and theories of Well Control are covered. Practical Well Control skills are provided to course participants through Highly Experienced Instructor led lessons and hands-on simulation time. Program participants will have structured 3 hours exposure time to Simulator Sessions allowing for maximum exposure to practical well control exercises.
Please note that the IWCF have changed the levels of their Rotary Drilling Well Control certification.
The former Driller Certification is now referred to as Level 3.
The former Supervisor Certification is now referred to as Level 4.

The IWCF Level 3 Drillers Well Control Program is essential training for those currently working as a Driller or Crew Support Role that will be expected to identify warning signs and react appropriately to positive indicators of a kick by shutting a well in with internationally approved methods. In addition, the program looks to reinforce a candidate’s existing knowledge of the various API Standards, The Principals of Well Control focusing on Internationally Recognised Procedures critical to conducting Drilling and Workover activities safely and conscientious manner.
The IWCF Level 4 Supervisors Program is specifically designed for those working on a Well Site in a Supervisory Role. This being said, it is also highly relevant to those Office-based Personnel that are directly involved in Geological and Engineering decision making positions regarding Formation Pressures and the integrity of Well Design. The course aims to create learning pathways that build on the content absorbed during a Drillers, Level 3 Well Control Program. The Level 4 Program expands more on what actions to take once a well has been Shut-in, we look deeper into the Supervisors Role and more complex aspects of Well Control such as Surface Gauge Interpretation and Well Kill Methodology.
The AWCC/IWCF Level 3 and 4 Well Control Program is a 5-day course and is delivered through a series of Power Point Presentations supported by Animations, Group Discussion, and 3 hours exposure to Practical Elements of Well Control in the form of Drilling Simulated Exercises. These Exercises closely align with all the requirements a candidate needs to be successful in an IWCF Simulated Practical Assessment. In addition, AWCC provide classroom workbooks supplemented by Practice Exams and Personalised Homework Allocation allowing candidates to focus on their specific gaps in understanding. All AWCC Students are guided through the Well Control Program from start to finish. The Supervisors Level 4 Program is in part combined with the Driller Level 3 Program for common Modules and Simulator Exercise Training.
The successful Candidates will be issued with an IWCF Level 4 Certification which is valid for 2 years from the Participants Anniversary Date. To be successful a Candidate must pass with a minimum of 70% in all three (3) Exams as follows: Equipment, P&P and Practical Simulator Assessment.
