This Fire Awareness training course enables the successful participant to demonstrate how various portable fire protection products are used in emergency situations. The course covers demonstrating the use of a portable fire extinguisher, a fire hose reel and a fire blanket. All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
AWCC’s comprehensive Fire Awareness and Demonstration of Fire Equipment practical training course will provide participants with the knowledge, skill and confidence to use the fire safety equipment within their workplace during an emergency. The course covers demonstrating the use of a portable fire extinguisher – both CO2 and water – plus the effective and safe use of a fire blanket. All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
Select the appropriate fire extinguisher to attack the fire. Demonstrate usage of fire extinguishers safely according to the manufacturers’ instructions, and in accordance with relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures.
Demonstrate usage of the hose reel safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures. Turn off water in the approved sequence and check the hose reel for leaks. Rewind the hose reel correctly after use.
Demonstrate usage of the fire blanket safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with the relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures Course Details The face to face training is 2 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of Fire Awareness and the use of fire extinguishers. Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement or will be refused entry.
There is a short multiple choice quiz at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course
The PUAFER008 Confine Small Emergencies in a Facility certificate is valid for 12 months from the completion date.
AWCC run the Confine Small Emergencies program for all clientele and will come to you. We utilise live flame and simulated techniques for those wishing to have their training indoors, high rise etc.
