The Certificate IV in Drilling Oil & Gas (On shore) reflects the role of employees such as a senior driller. They perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and nonroutine.
They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others and contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems
Pathways & Opportunities:
This qualification is aimed at Drillers, Assistant Drillers and Derrickmen who have operational experience and wish to advance to a Senior Driller role. Successful completion of this qualification may contribute to credit towards the Diploma in Drilling Oil/Gas (On shore).
Participants should already be employed within the oil and gas (on shore) drilling industry or have prior experiences within this industry that can be verified.
Participants have 24 months to complete the qualification from commencement of the course.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning recognises your existing experience gained through life or work for which you may not have obtained a formal qualification. We will work with you to identify your existing skills, and assess if you can then achieve a full or partial qualification. This also helps to avoid unnecessary duplication of training, saving you time and money.
Assessment will be conducted via a number of options, for example, written assessment, interview, workplace/simulated workplace observation, review of samples of work or verification by supervisor/employer.
Requirements for Completion of the Qualification
The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.
Total units = 12
- 8 Core units, plus
- 4 elective units, of which;
- no more than four (4) may be chosen from the electives
- no more than two (2) units from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.
There are prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.
